Adobe somehow became the default program for everything!

I downloaded somthing the other day that runs in Adobe so when I was prompted to select a program in which to open the file I selected Adobe reader.
NOW all my other programs including Internet Explorer, Microsoft Office, Yahoo Messenger, and much, much
more had the Adobe Reader icon and is set to open in Adobe.
I reied going into
Set Program Access and Computer Defaults. but
it keeps opening in Adobe and says its not compatable.
I also restarted the computer but no luck.
Please help!?

Thanks for posting to "Getting Ready for Windows 7" community forum.

It sounds as though the .exe associations have now defaulted to Adobe to open the files.

You might try thto unassociate the program from opening the files.

Click StartORB / in search line type FOLDER OPTIONS / Control Panel / Programs / Default Programs / Associate a file type or protocol with a program

Select the programs or extensions from the list that you do not want opened with Adobe and associate them with the programs that you would prefer them to be opened with.

If you failed to fix it, another option is to call Microsoft and walk through the process with a technician. To do this, dial "1-800-936-5700". Explain the error that you received and the steps in the update process during which it was displayed. The technician will be able to walk through the steps from getting a new product key to finishing the installation.
