Any Ideas why Outlook 2007 flickers 'violently' between main window and sub-windows? How to fix?

It doesn't do it all the time, but when it gets into the mode, sometimes you can't even shut down the application. The only thing that can be done is to shut the pc down. Task Mgr won't shut it down.

I can't pin it down exactly what initiates it. But usually I have other MS applications open (Word or Excel) & Firefox, possibly.

An example, is when you are exploring Contacts and have a contact window open to edit or review. You leave Outlook to go to the other application and then you see the rapid flickering going on in the task bar.

Another example similar to the above is where you are editing a contact window. Right click to change something, then the display studders and falls into the flickering mode.

Intuitively, I think it has something to do with the display or video card. I did R & R the card's driver. The only reason I think that is that the problem lessens in frequency of occurrence, seemingly with larger display text size. Plus, I don't think this
happened until after updating the graphics card (below)

FYI....
PC: Dell Dimension E520
Windows 7 64-bit
4 GB RAM
EVGA GeForce 9500 w/ 1 GB memory
Display Resolution @ 1280 x 1024 (same not changed)

This problem is hard to re-create as it seems almost random when it occurs. I can go for days, if not nearly a week, then all of a sudden it'll get 'fussy'.

Something that happens sporadically can be tough to troubleshoot.

Do these to clear corruption and repair/replace damaged/missing system files.

Run DiskCleanup - Start - All Programs - Accessories - System Tools - Disk Cleanup

Start - type in Search box - COMMAND find at top of list - RIGHT CLICK - RUN AS ADMIN

sfc /scannow

Then run checkdisk - schedule it to run at next start and then Apply OK your way out then restart.

Use the System File Checker tool to repair corrupted or missing system files:

Click Start.
Type cmd, and then press CTRL+SHIFT+ENTER to open the elevated command prompt (I.e. Command prompt with administrative rights).
The User Account Control window should appear, be sure that the action it exhibits is correct, and then press the Continue button.
Type or copy paste the below command line into it without quotes:
"Sfc /scannow"
