Automatic Hibernation Fails Even Though Manual Hibernation Works
My hibernation used to work just fine about three weeks ago, including both the manual selection of "Hibernate" from the Start Menu and the automatic hibernate after 60 minutes that I configured in my Power Options.
Then, Windows Update came in and installed a bunch of stuff I'm not even aware of.
Now, I can still hibernate successfully from the Start menu, but my automatic hibernation after 60 minutes no longer works.
It still says hibernate after 60 minutes in the Power
Options, and nothing else changed from when it worked.
I also ran powercfg -h off and powercfg -h on to reset the hibernation page file but that didn't change the situation.
I looked through my Windows system logs and found no "Error" flags.
Why doesn't automatic
hibernate work anymore?

This issue can be caused due to incompatible display drivers, incorrect settings in power options or third-party application conflict.
I would suggest you to refer to the steps and check if it helps.
Step 1
Please check if the video card drivers are up to date.
Install the latest video card drivers for Windows 7.

If nothing helps, I would suggest you to try running SFC scan and check.
System File Checker (SFC) checks that all Windows 7 system files are where they should be as they were by default and not corrupted, changed, or damaged.

Manually editing the Windows registry

To manually repair your Windows registry, first you need to create a backup by exporting a portion of the registry related to MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION (eg. Windows Operating System):

- In the Export Range box, be sure that "Selected branch" is selected.
- Click Save.
- The file is then saved with a .reg file extension.
- You now have a backup of your MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION-related registry entry.
