Asus laptop CD not read any CD. Says insert CD! The CDs work OK from a plug-in LG CD drive.

My Aspire 5745G laptop with Windows 7 (now sp1) cannot read/show/list any CD (except my original Windows7 CD).
It just says No CD/Insert CD etc.
ALL "non-read CDs" are read and work OK when put into a second portable LG CD player on the same computer.

Your CD drive or DVD drive is missing or is not recognized by Windows or other programs
Fix It for missing CD/DVD drive:

Boot in Safe Mode:

• Open Run command as previously described
• Type MSConfig
• Click on Boot tab
• Tick Safe boot in Boot option
• Select Network
• Click Apply and OK
• Reboot your system

Your system will boot in Safe mode with Networking. You may now try and open Windows Store and should not see any errors.
