Can't find IE8 on my computer?

I had lots of trouble installing and reinstalling IE9, and it just wouldn't work so I'm happy to stay with IE8 if I can get it to work.

Internet Explorer 8 is not listed in my programs and features (nor is any version), however when I try to download it, it says setup cannot continue because a more recent version is already installed.

If I go in to Windows Update, and click View Recent Updates, Internet Explorer 8 can be seen.
However I can not find it anywhere on my computer to use it? Like I said it is not listed in the Programs, searching under the start bar provides no avail.
I've tried
going in to Turn Window Features On and Off but Internet Explorer is not listed there.
I've tried holding the Windows button and pressing R and searching for explorer.exe but that just brings me to My Documents? And there is nothing in there that I can see.

Very confused and very appreciative of anyone that can provide any help.
